First aid

What to do before you reach us

Knocked-out tooth

Handle it by the crown, not the root. Rinse gently, and keep it moist — in milk or tucked in your cheek. Get here within the hour if you can; re-implantation works best fast.

Severe toothache

Rinse with warm salt water and gently floss — trapped food is a common culprit. Use OTC pain relief as directed, but never place aspirin on the gum; it burns tissue.

Broken or chipped tooth

Save any pieces, rinse your mouth with warm water, and use a cold compress for swelling. Cover sharp edges with dental wax or sugar-free gum until we see you.

Lost crown or filling

Keep the crown if you have it. Temporary dental cement from a pharmacy can protect the tooth for a day or two — but come in soon, before the tooth shifts or cracks.

Swelling or abscess

Swelling with fever or trouble swallowing is serious — call us immediately, or go to the ER if it affects breathing. An abscess won’t heal on its own.

Bleeding that won’t stop

Apply firm pressure with clean gauze for 15 minutes. If bleeding continues after two rounds of pressure, call us — or seek urgent care after hours.

Emergency FAQs

Answers when you need them fast

Will you really see me today?

That’s the goal, and we usually hit it. Call as early as you can — emergencies get priority in our schedule, six days a week.

What if my emergency happens on a weekend?

We’re open Saturdays 8–4. For after-hours situations, call our office line for guidance; if you have facial swelling that affects breathing or swallowing, go to the emergency room first.

Is a toothache ever “just a toothache”?

Pain is your tooth’s only way of asking for help. Even if it fades, the cause — decay, a crack, an infection — is still there and still progressing. A quick exam now beats a root canal later.

Can you handle the emergency and the repair?

Yes. Because we do restorative work, root canals, extractions, and implants in-house, the same team that relieves your pain can finish the permanent fix — no referrals, no repeating your story.

In pain right now?

Don’t wait it out — call and we’ll prioritize you today.
