Deep Cleaning
Scaling and root planing — the front-line treatment for gum disease.
Deep Cleaning
When plaque goes below the gumline
A regular cleaning handles what’s above the gums. But once bacteria colonize the pockets beneath, only a deep cleaning — scaling and root planing — can reach them. We carefully remove buildup from the tooth roots, then smooth the root surfaces so your gums can reattach and heal.
It’s the standard of care for early periodontal disease, and it works: gums tighten, bleeding stops, and pockets shrink.
- Treats bleeding, swollen & receding gums
- Performed gently, with numbing as needed
- Usually completed over two comfortable visits
- Followed by easy maintenance cleanings
Will it hurt?
This is the question everyone asks — and the honest answer is no. We numb the areas being treated, work one section of your mouth at a time, and check in with you throughout. Mild tenderness for a day or two afterward is normal and fades quickly. Nervous anyway? Ask about our sedation options.
